Himanshu Nanda is an eminent Hindustani Classical flautist, a senior disciple of the legendary Bansuri maestro Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and an expert in the Maihar Gharana tradition. Having trained extensively under the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara, he has dedicated his career to performing, teaching, and propagating the art of Indian Classical Music globally.

Internalising the framework of a raag and understanding its elements.

By internalising the frameworks of Bhoopali, Yaman, and Brindavani Sarang, you will transition from playing patterns to expressing ragas—mastering their essential elements to evoke distinct emotional landscapes and confidently navigate basic classical structures.

Melodic Structures
(Course 7-8)
Content Focus:
Understanding the Mathematics of Rhythm, Advanced Alankars and Thaats.
Outcome:
By unlocking total precision in rhythmic variations and advanced Alankars, you will transition to complex systems in music along with gaining a deep, physical understanding of all 12 notes on the Bansuri through Thaat practice to play with absolute confidence.

Ornamentation
(Course 9-10)
Content Focus:
Mastery of Khatka, Murki, Gamak, and the essential Meend (vocal-like glides).
Outcome:
By practicing these essential embellishments, you will transition from linear playing to soulful artistry—elevating your technical execution into a fluid, expressive language filled with the rich textures, emotional depth, and authentic ornamentation of classical musicians.

Raga & its Melody
(Course 11-12)
Content Focus:
Exploring Alaps for Bhoopali, Yaman, B.Sarang, and delivering a complete Raga Durga performance.
Outcome:
By mastering the unmetered Alap of Bhoopali, Yaman, and Brindavani Sarang alongside a complete presentation of Raga Durga, you will transition into a stage-ready artist—gaining the creative stamina and structural knowledge to deliver a captivating 30-minute performance.

Do I need to own a Bansuri before I start this course?
No, you do not need to have one already. One of our first lessons specifically covers "Which Bansuri Do I Buy?" to ensure you invest in the right key and quality for a beginner. I recommend waiting until you watch that lesson so you don't end up with an instrument that is difficult to play.
Which Scale Bansuri do I need for this Course?
Level -1, Level - 2 and Level - 3 courses are delivered in G# Bansuri. All other courses are delivered on E-base.
I have tried playing before but couldn't get a sound. Will this work for me?
Absolutely! We have a dedicated section titled "I am trying hard, but sound is not coming from my Bansuri" specifically to address this. I provide a systematic approach to sound production that breaks down the lip and breath technique used in our lineage to help you get a clear note quickly
How much time do I need to dedicate to practice (Riyaz)?
Consistency matters more than long hours of practice. To support this, we include a dedicated lesson on “How do I schedule my Riyaz?” that helps you build a sustainable daily routine. Even 30–45 minutes of focused practice every day can bring noticeable improvement to your musicality.
Can I get personal feedback during the 12-Step journey?
Yes. In the Guru–Shishya tradition, personal guidance is essential to move forward in the journey. To support your progress, we conduct a live webinar, once, every two months dedicated exclusively to student interaction and guidance. During these sessions, you are welcome to ask any questions related to your practice, and Shri Himanshu Nanda will personally guide you to ensure your learning remains steady, correct, and inspiring.
